Laurie Beek-Korbel, 59
Laurie Beek-Korbel, age 59, of New Prague, passed away peacefully, in her sleep at home on Sunday, April 7, 2024. She had been diagnosed with Congestive Heart Failure on June 12 of 2022, and entered hospice care on February 28 of this year. Laurie was born on February 10, 1965, in Faribault to Donald & Evelyn (Timmers) Korbel. She grew up on the family dairy farm in Kilkenny and graduated from Montgomery-Lonsdale High School in 1983. She had 2 years advanced schooling in sales marketing and management and worked for K-Mart during those years. Following her education, she worked for United Steel in the office and traveled extensively for the company to California and Florida. She also worked in bookkeeping for Burnsville Motors and most recently, for Traxler Wealth Management.
Love captured Laurie later in life when she met Craig Beek in June of 2012. They were married on December 12, 2017, at the county courthouse in Shakopee. She and Craig started Beek’s Trucking in 2020, where Laurie helped with the bookkeeping, until her CHF diagnosis forced her to quit. She enjoyed country, animals, cleaning, and visiting with relatives, friends, and neighbors. Her vacations to New York, Wisconsin Dells, and Iowa were some of the highlights of her life. Known for her wonderful sense of humor, Laurie could bring a smile to everyone around her. She was the care-taker for all of her extended family and her love for them was the cornerstone of her life!
Laurie is survived by her husband, Craig, of New Prague; Craig’s children, Brandon Beek and Ashley Beek, both of Sartel; brothers, Ronald Korbel of Montgomery and Randy (Dawn) Korbel of Lonsdale; nephew & children, Nathan & Jenny Korbel, Jackson, Garrett, Theodore, & Remington; nieces & children, Diann & Ben Vosejpka, Josie and Cindy & Brad Walecha, Jacob & Samuel; aunt, Janet Korbel; uncle, Matt O’Connell; many cousins. She is preceded in death by her parents; brother, David (at birth); grandparents, George & Emily (Honza) Korbel and John & Petronella (Penterman) Timmers.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, April 15, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Wenceslaus Church with Father Eugene Theisen officiating. Mass will be live-streamed on npcatholic.org. Visitation will take place Sunday from 4-7 p.m. and Monday morning from 7:30-9:30 at Bruzek Funeral Home. Burial will occur at St. Wenceslaus Cemetery followed by lunch at the KC Hall.
