Scott County Sheriff’s Office 911 Dispatch received a report of a two-vehicle crash that occurred on Scott County 23 (Panama Avenue) south of Scott County 68 (190th Street East) in Spring Lake Township at 3:08 p.m. on Mar. 2.

The preliminary investigation indicates that a 2007 GMC Sierra, that was towing an enclosed trailer, driven by Arturo Garcia Rivera (39) of Lakeville, was traveling southbound on Panama Avenue when it crossed the center line, striking a 2019 Volkswagen Tiguan traveling northbound, driven by Megan Rae Taylor (50) of Lonsdale.

Rivera was wearing a seatbelt and was not injured. Rivera also had an 11-year-old passenger who was not wearing a seatbelt. The child was ejected from the vehicle and sustained non-life-threatening injuries. The child was transported by ambulance to Children’s Hospital in Minneapolis.

Taylor was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. She was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Scott County Sheriff’s Department says that it does not believe that alcohol or drugs were a factor in the crash.

The crash is being investigated still by Scott County Sheriff’s Office, Minnesota State Patrol, and Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s Office.
