Richard (Rick) Ray Rogers, 77

Richard (Rick) Ray Rogers, age 77, of New Prague, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, on January 31, 2023. Rick was born February 16, 1945 in Minneapolis, Minnesota to Delmar and Eleanor (Brown) Rogers. He was the second oldest out of three. He grew up in Bloomington helping raise and train collies along with his sister and her pet raccoon. He graduated from Bloomington High School in 1964. After high school he worked various jobs before getting into the family business at United Steel Products Company, Inc. He married Betty Steinhouse on December 12, 1970 in Bloomington. They had their daughter, Jessica, who brought so much joy into their life. Rick loved to participate in planning and attending to Christmas parties for United Steel and for adoption families. He remained there along with being a husband and father, holding many positions in marketing and ending up as Chairman of Sales and Vice President until they sold the company in 1998.

 Rick enjoyed camping and traveling with his nephews and later on with his grandchildren. He loved participating in back to the 50’s with his family and friends. Rick won a few trophies along the way as well. He was a talented artist especially in photography and in architectural drawings. December was his favorite time of the year. Rick enjoyed decorating his house with his family for all seasons. He loved to go down to Florida every year and hosting gatherings with his family and friends by the ocean. Rick's all time favorite trip was taking his family down to Florida in the year of 2022. His favorite activity was anything that involved time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

 He survived by his daughter, Jessica (Mike) Ellman, grandchildren, Cody (Raja) Ellman, Kaitlyn (Eric) Helseth, Kyler (Kayla) Ellman, great-grandchildren, Annikka, Oakley, Stella, Theodore, Paislee. 

 He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Rogers, sister, Darla Grosklags (Rogers), infant brother, Shane Rogers; parents, Delmar and Eleanor Rogers. 

 A Service of Remembrance will be held Friday, February 10, 2023, at 3:00 P.M. following visitation which begins at 2:00 P.M. at Bruzek Funeral Home.  All are invited to a dinner at the Park Ballroom Legion Clubroom immediately following the service. The burial will occur on February 18^th  at 10:00 A.M. at Dawn Valley Memorial Park in Bloomington and all are warmly invited to attend.  bruzekfuneralhome.com,
