Allen L. Tikalsky, 76

Allen L. Tikalsky, age 76, of New Prague, died peacefully with his family at his side on Tuesday, October 5, 2021 at his home at Mala Strana Rehabilitation Center and Assisted Living.  Allen was born on June 4, 1945 in New Prague to Henry and Lorraine E. (Hadac) Tikalsky.  He attended St. Wenceslaus School and graduated from New Prague High School.  He then entered the US Navy, where he served for 8 years, working on naval ships first in the Phillipines.  It was while he was home on leave that he met his bride, Lucille I. Trnka at the Park Ballroom and the couple married at Immaculate Conception Church in Lonsdale on January 11, 1969.  He finished out his tour with the navy stationed in California and Hawaii, where the couple started their family of 3 sons.  After settling in New Prague, Allen worked as a pallatizer operator for Robin Hood which became Conagra, and retired after 36 years with the company.  He was a member of the American Legion and VFW and the New Prague Sportsman’s Club.  In his younger years, his sports enthusiasm found him on a men’s golf league and a softball league with the mill.  He was an avid deer hunter but perhaps enjoyed the camaraderie of the deer camp with his family and buddies most of all.  He was a proud member of the New Prague pyrotechnic team and contributed to the community’s enjoyment of the 4th of July fireworks.  In his retirement years, he could be found at the casino and poker tables.  He valued family; his greatest enjoyment came with holiday celebrations with his large family and more recently, the time spent with his granddaughters and great-granddaughters.

Allen is survived by his wife, Lucille of New Prague; sons, Kelly (Diane) of New Prague, Scott (Michelle) of Lee Center, NY, Kevin (Karen) of Farmington; granddaughters, Michelle, Cassie, Haley, Madison, McKenzie, Mallory, and Melina; great-granddaughters, Emma, Scarlet, and Vivian; brothers, Dick (Amy) of Minnetrista, Milton (Denise) of New Prague, Wayne of New Prague; sister, Debbie (Bob) Jensen of Isle.  He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Randy; sister, Becky Kalhoefer.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, October 11, 2021 at 10:00 AM at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church with Father Kevin Clinton officiating.  Visitation will take place Sunday from 5-7 pm and Monday morning from 7:30 – 9:30 at Bruzek Funeral Home.  Masks are strongly recommended in both places.  Burial will occur at St. Wenceslaus Cemetery where military honors will be provided by the New Prague Area Veterans Honor Guard.  bruzekfuneralhome.com
