Betty Chlian a/k/a Baseball Betty, 82
Betty Chlian a/k/a Baseball Betty, age 82 of Northfield formerly of Lonsdale, MN passed away peacefully on May 22, 2021. Betty was born on March 26, 1939 in Rice County, MN to George and Rose Polak. She was an avid Minnesota Twins fan who spent the past 12 winters in Florida enjoying sunshine, baseball, and what became her “Florida family”. She adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and was looking forward to three more on the way. Betty was always on the go. Since 2009 she sang with the New Prague Czech Singers. Betty loved to fish off the dock catching sunnies and crappies with her cane pole. She spent many hours crocheting baby blankets and afghans. Her competitive spirit came alive when playing cards, Scrabble, corn hole, and any other game. She will be missed by many.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents George and Rose Polak; husband Clarence Malecha; husband Robert Chlian; son Alan Malecha; and sister Dorothy Kropelnicki.
She is survived by her daughters Colleen (Dave) Picha and Jeannie (Brad) Doble; Grandchildren Tyler (Alexandria), Konner (Kayla), Tanner (Camie) and Jacob (Bekah); and two great-grandchildren Aspen Marie and Norah Jean.
Visitation will be held at White’s Funeral Home, 201 – 5th Street NW Lonsdale on Friday, May 28, 2021 from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm; prayer service at 3:00 pm; interment at Calvary Cemetery following the prayer service. A meal will follow the interment at 4:00 pm at the American Legion, 115 – 2nd Ave NW, Lonsdale.
