Boys’ basketball ends season in tight loss
New Prague High School’s boys’ basketball ended its season in a tight, 58-55, game against New Ulm, Tuesday, March 7, in the Section 2AA quarterfinals.
“This was a very tough loss,” said New Prague head coach Dan Peterka. “We played extremely well through the first half and most of the second half.”
New Ulm, No. 2 seed in the section tournament, then faced No. 3 seed Worthington at Gustavus Adolphus College’s Lund Center, Saturday, March 11, where the Worthington Trojans upset the Eagles, 65-49. Worthington (21-6) will now face Mankato East (23-5) in the Section 2AA finals tonight (Thursday) 7 p.m. at Gustavus.

The Trojans, No. 7 in the section tournament, started the game with the lead against the Eagles. New Prague was overpowering New Ulm in the first half as the Trojans led, 41-27, going into the halftime break.
“Our defense and execution of our game plan was everything that we wanted. We just struggled to score for much of the stretch run,” said Peterka.
