Chief Gareis lays out strategic plan for Police Dept.
New Prague Police Chief Jim Gareis laid out a strategic transition plan for the city’s Police Department, which includes his eventual retirement in 2022, during the New Prague City Council’s electronically held meeting on Monday, May 3.
He explained the department is currently made up of 10 officers, including himself, a sergeant and eight patrol officers. There are also two support staff members. The current level of staff has been in place since 2016. Chief Gareis anticipates leaving the department in 12 to 15 months, his retirement taking effect between May and August of 2022.
