ENM Fire Rescue Days is June 23-26 Elko New Market’s annual celebration Fire Rescue Days will be held Thursday, June 23, through Sunday, June 26. Things start on Thursday, at 6 p.m. at Wagner Park with the band The Castaways. The festival also includes the NEW Lions Steak Dinner on Friday at 5 p.m at Firehouse Grille and live pro wrestling at 8 p.m. in the Doublewide’s parking lot. On Saturday, there is the Fire Rescue Days Community Parade, beginning at 11 a.m. at Elko New Market City Hall, going west on Main Street and ending at Wagner Park. The celebration continue with the ARCA Menards Series Race at 6 p.m. at Elko Speedway and a Street Dance at 8 p.m. at the Doublewide’s parking lot. On Sunday beginning at 8 a.m. are Pancakes at the Fire Hall, hosted by Boy Scouts of America Troop 325 and sponsored by the NEW Lions.

Henderson Tractor Ride stopping at Union Hill This Saturday, June 25, is the 21st annual Henderson Tractor Ride as it travels through the Minnesota River Valley. Spectators are urged to set up lawn chairs along the route to watch the annual caravan of antique tractors. Old tractor collectors are urged to park their tractors along the route for the tractor drivers to enjoy. Tractors will leave the Le Sueur County Pioneer Power Showgrounds at 8:45 a.m. on Saturday and travel north on County Road 33. Riders will turn east on County Road 28 and travel through St. Thomas about 9:15 a.m., continuing on County Road 28 until they turn left on County Road 31. The caravan will take County Road 31 north to Union Hill at about 10:15 a.m. After a short break at Union Hill, the old tractors will head north on County Road 7, coming into Belle Plaine via East Main Street at about 11:45 a.m. Main Street and downtown are excellent spots to watch the parade. The route will follow County Road 6 out of Belle Plaine through Blakeley and onto The Scenic Byway, with a quick stop at Jessenland at about 12:30 p.m. The caravan will enter Henderson on North 6th Street, the riders will travel to Main Street at about 1:30 p.m., and proudly parade through the Historic Henderson Business District, and end the ride at Bender Park.

Czech Heritage Club to hold program on June 28 The Czech Heritage Club will be hosting its June program on Tuesday, June 28, at 7 p.m. at the Revival on Main, 213 – 1st Street S. in Montgomery. The program will feature Misa Kotek, the Czech Baker, who will share her experiences of growing up in the Czech Republic, immigrating to the United States, and opening her bakery business. Kotek will also have several of her baked items available for purchase. There is no admission charge for this program, and the Club invites all members and the general public to attend. Club members are welcome to attend the Board of Directors meeting beginning at 5:30 p.m. at the Revival on Main.

Show and Tell to be held at Hilltop Hall The Montgomery Historical Society will host its June Show & Tell event at the historic Hilltop Hall in Montgomery on Thursday, June 30. The free event at 206 First Street North begins at 7 p.m. Owner John Grimm will talk about the history of the former dance and concert hall that dates back to the 1800s. The Hilltop Hall was included on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982. The Society invites and encourages all members and the public to attend this informative evening. Donations are greatly appreciated. There is limited handicapped parking behind the Hall.
