Council honors retiring City Administrator Johnson

The New Prague City Council honored City Administrator Mike Johnson during its Monday, Aug. 16, meeting. Johnson who has been the city administrator for 13 years is retiring on Friday, Aug. 20. The council unanimously approved a resolution recognizing Johnson for his work and presented him with a plaque and a key to the city.

The resolution stated that Johnson’s efforts and dedication helped New Prague grow and with the overall well-being of the city.

“It’s been enjoyable both professionally and personally,” said Johnson in an interview on Friday, Aug. 13. He noted that he hasn’t done the work by himself in that he’s had good councils and city staff to work with. He said of the councils,

“We’ve had a good representation of elected officials.” He added that the council has had people who are willing to work on issues...
