Dennis D. Johnson, 81

Dennis D. Johnson, age 81 of New Prague, MN passed away peacefully on January 17, 2021, after contracting Covid-19, which accelerated his battle with Alzheimer's Disease.

Dennis was born August 29, 1939 in Blooming Prairie, MN to Menard and Meta (Stork) Johnson. When he was a young boy, the family moved to Elkton, MN. In 1958, he graduated from Elkton Public School where his lifelong love of football began.

In 1963, Dennis married Lola Milbrath and two children, Brenda and Erik, were born; the couple later divorced. In 1979, he married Joan (Viskocil) Williams, and very shortly after Dennis adopted her son Jeffrey.

Most of his working life was spent supervising and working in road construction. Dennis enjoyed fishing and the motorhome trips he and Joan took. He was instrumental in making the ballpark in St. Patrick a reality; he often helped coach youth wrestling in New Prague. Dennis was the greatest husband and dad. He was always smiling and ready to help. He will be missed a lot.

Dennis is survived by his wife Joan, daughter Brenda Johnson of St. Paul, sons Erik (Stacy) Johnson of Rosemount and Jeffrey Johnson of McGregor; granddaughter Sadie Johnson Sieben and grandson Alex Johnson, brother DeVern (Lina) Johnson of Rochester, MN. He is preceded in death by his parents and brothers Dale, Delwyn and Douglas.

A celebration of Life is planned for August 28, 2021 at the American Legion in New Prague from 1 - 4 pm. Burial will be at Fort Snelling National Cemetery on February 8, 2021.
