Edward M. “Eddie” Malz, 86

Edward M. “Eddie” Malz, age 86, of Farmington, died peacefully with his family at his side at his home on Tuesday, July 9, 2024.  Edward was born on November 22, 1937, in Belle Plaine, to Edward and Emiline (Krekelberg) Malz.  He grew up in Belle Plaine, graduated from Belle Plaine High School, and served in the US Army after graduating.  He met Judith E. Fredrickson at a dance in Spring Lake, fell in love, and married her on October 25, 1958, at Highview Christiana Church in Farmington. Edward was a man of many talents.  He started out farming, then worked for a lumber company, before settling in as a machinist with glass plants in Rosemount and Shakopee.  He finished out his career with Vikings Acoustical.

Edward was a man who liked things in order, particular about everything being in its place.  Yet he loved nothing more than family gatherings, with the chaos and activity that comes with a large and active family.  Watching the Minnesota Twins and Vikings football brought him great entertainment and joy.  He was an outdoorsman, who loved camping, hunting and fishing.  He particularly enjoyed planting trees at the house that the couple owned in the country, very particular that they were spaced just right!  Edward was a woodworker and he and Judy enjoyed creating crafts, some of which were gifts for family and others occasionally sold.

Edward is survived by his wife, Judy of Farmington; children, David (Kim) Malz of New Prague, Randy (Marge) Malz of Farmington, Darren (Ann) Malz of Little Canada; brothers, Gary (Sally) Malz of Jordan, Alan Malz of Remer; sisters-in-law, Peggy Malz of Belle Plaine, Dorothy Malz of Belle Plaine, Dorothy Malz of Shakopee; 8 grandchildren; 2 step-grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his daughter, Julie Kay Malz; his parents; brothers, Robert, Melvin, Myron, & Larry; sister, Phyllis Snyder.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held Monday, July 15, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Bruzek Funeral Home with Pastor Elizabeth Damico-Carper officiating.  Visitation will take place 1 hour prior to the service, from 10-11 a.m.  Burial will follow at Czech National Cemetery in New Prague, where military honors will be conducted by the New Prague Area Veterans Honor Guard.  Lunch will follow at the KC Hall.  bruzekfuneralhome.com
