Eugene “Gene” Joseph Pavek, 84

Eugene “Gene” Joseph Pavek, age 84 of Eagan, MN, died peacefully on Easter Sunday, April 1, 2018 at his home in Port Charlotte, FL.  Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 AM on Tuesday, April 10 at the Church of St. Patrick’s in Jordan, MN with a lunch planned for afterward.  Visitation will be one hour prior to service time at the church.  Interment will be in Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, April 10.
Gene was born on March 17, 1934 to Joseph and Lilian (Havlicek) Pavek on the family farm in Cedar Lake Township.  He attended Scott County District 47 one room school house and later earned his GED.  At the age of 19 he enlisted in the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers where Gene served four tours in Germany and a tour in Vietnam where he earned the Bronze Star for Valor.  In September of 1979 he retired with 25 years as a Master Sergeant and went on to work at the University of Minnesota ROTC for another 20 years.  Gene was a lifelong member of the American Legion Post U of M.
Gene enjoyed bowling, gardening, fishing, and watching his three sons play sports. 
Gene is survived by his wife, Marina (nee Kuchtyn) Pavek; sons, Ralph (Lisa) Pavek of Elizabeth, IN, Douglas (Micki) Pavek of Colorado Springs, CO, and Rodney Pavek of Hastings, England; five grandchildren, Kyle, Alexandria, Grace, Gabby, and Max; brother, Roger Pavek of Mora; and sister, Lillian Tate of New Prague.  He is preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Marianne (nee Kloeck) Pavek; and an infant son, Thomas Patrick Pavek.
