Five state entrants and a 6th place finish at Sections

The New Prague boys track and field team tied for sixth place in the Section 2AA Meet Wednesday, June 1 and Friday, June 3. They also had one relay and one individual advance to the Class AA State Meet.

The Trojans scored 68 points in a very competitive Section Meet, tying Belle Plaine for sixth place. Worthington was the boys team champion with 99 points. They were followed by Mankato East (86), Jordan (77), Mankato West (77), and St. Peter (74).

Senior Ethan Chromy won the high jump title, clearing 6-feet, 3-inches. His personal best effort advances him to the Class AA State Meet, which will be held Friday, June 10 and Saturday, June 11 at St. Michael-Albertville High School. Chromy’s height now ranks No. 5 on the New Prague Top Ten AllTime List.

Also advancing is the 4 x 100-meter relay team of Issac Stanger, Brendan Pieper, Kaden Lukkes, and Brody Wolch, who finished second at Sections in a time of 43.74.

All four New Prague relays placed in the top half of their respective races.

The 4 x 200-meter relay team of Semaj Morris, Jon Grams, Roman Griffin, and Carson O’Connor placed fourth in 1:35.11.

The 4 x 800-meter relay team of Chase Trygestad, Mitch Krostue, Riley Huseby, and Ryan Schoen placed fifth in 8:51.26.

The 4 x 400-meter relay team of Jacob Lee, Nino Morris, Aidan King, and Trygestad placed sixth in 3:38.17.
