Girls have strong showing at Mega Meet

The New Prague Trojan girls cross country team had a strong showing at the Milaca Mega-Meet Saturday, Sept. 22, at Stone’s Throw GC in Milaca.

The meet, billed as one of the largest high school cross country meets in the US, saw the Trojans finish 13th of 25 teams in the large-school division.

Wayzata won the meet with 34 points and had three runners finish in the top six and five runners finishing in the top 13. Eden Prairie was second at 74 with Andover third at 75. New Prague had 383 points, behind Moorhead’s 353 and just ahead of Woodbury with 384.

Top Trojan runner was Sydney Siegle, who placed 44th in 20 minutes, 13 seconds, improving her time from last year by 47 seconds. Nora Rosemeier was 48th overall in 20:15. Next for the Trojans was Iris McCarthy (84th, 21:07), and Abbey Carlson (88th, 21:11). Kate Chromy was 122nd in 21:52, Libby Midtvedt was 123rd in 21:57 and Morgan Brandt was 131st in 22:17.

Emma Atkinson of Wayzata was the medallist in a time of 18:04.
