Glazer repeats; Trojans 2nd at Clay Target State Tourney

The New Prague Trojans finished second at the Minnesota State High School League Clay Target Championships Tuesday, June 22, at the Minneapolis Gun Club in Prior Lake, and junior Woody Glazer repeated as state individual champion, tieing four others for the individual title with perfect scores of 100.

In the team competition, held in the morning, New Prague and Park Rapids tied for second with 485 out of 500 targets, but New Prague won the tie-breaker with a high-gun score of 100, compared to 99 for Park Rapids.

St. Michael-Albertville became the repeat champion, recording a score of 491. The Knights also won last year, while New Prague won in 2016.

Nearly 300 participants, including 54 that qualified in both the team and individual portions of the state tournament, competed in the event held annually since 2014. Approximately 31,400 clay targets were used during the daylong event.

Three competitors hit a perfect 100 targets during team competition, and two of them were from New Prague. Senior Leevi Chandler and Glazer accomplished the feat. Other New Prague teammates to score were senior Nicholas Wegner (97), senior Rieley Kilian (96), and senior Conner Greff (92).
