Helping students ‘Know the Truth’
Students at the New Prague Compass Learning Center were presented with Know the Truth, the substance-use prevention program of Minnesota Adult and Teen Challenge on Wednesday, April 25. The presentation was to help prevent substance abuse among young people.
They were working to help people as, according to the Minnesota Department of Health, in Scott County, 13.5 percent of 11th graders admit to having alcohol in the past 30 days and 4 percent admit to using conventional tobacco products within the past 30 days.
Dan Callinan from Minnesota Adult and Teen Challenge explained there are four gateway drugs — alcohol, marijuana, prescription drugs and cigarettes or nicotine.
