Julius J. “Sonny” Bisek, 82

Julius J. “Sonny” Bisek, age 82, of New Prague, died peacefully but unexpectedly at his home at Queen’s Court on Wednesday, March 1, 2023.  Sonny was born on April 1, 1940 in New Prague to Julius T. and Albina (Kriha) Bisek.  He lived his entire life in New Prague, attended St. Wenceslaus Parochial School and graduated from New Prague High School.  After military service in the US Army, Sonny worked his entire career with Holiday Foods, which became Cub Foods.  Sonny was a man of great faith, generously supporting St. Wenceslaus Church and especially St. Wenceslaus School.  His generosity also extended to helping the residents at Mala Strana; he was a regular visitor there, volunteering his time and energies to helping wherever the need was.  In his spare time, he enjoyed playing golf, a good game of cards, and visits to the casino, as well as Canterbury racetrack with his love of horses.  He was a huge fan of the Minnesota Twins, Vikings, and Nascar Racing.  Sonny’s name truly epitomized his spirit!  He was always cheerful, had a smile on his face, and was ready for a friendly chat.

Sonny is survived by his sisters, Alice (Bill) Janousek of Jordan and Juanita Hartman of Hampton, VA; many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Julia Bisek and Angie Ruehling; brother, Jerome.
