Kay Wollin, 72

Kay Wollin, 72, of New Prague, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on March 3, 2023, after a sudden, but brief, illness. Kay was born on February 28, 1951, in Alexandria, MN to Freddie Glade Olson and Marion Louise Olson (Bartholeme) and attended Alexandria Public Schools.

On March 8, 1967, Kay married Bill Howard Wollin in Watertown, SD. The couple spent the majority of their life in the New Prague area, where they raised their 3 sons. In 2004, Kay and Bill purchased a home in rural Le Sueur and lived there until Bill died in 2016. Upon Bill’s death, Kay returned to New Prague where she remained until her passing. Kay worked for the same small family company for most of her life, retiring from Allen Advertising in Shakopee in 2016. Family was her first priority. She was never happier than when spending time with her boys, their wives, her grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. While raising her boys, many weekends were spent at Nelson’s Bass Point on Lake Geneva, a resort owned by her beloved Aunt Birdyne. This was such a special place to Kay and her family, that her final resting place will be next to Bill in Geneva Cemetery, which overlooks Bass Point with a small private ceremony at a later time.

Kay is survived by her three sons, Joel (Sook-Hee) of New Prague, Troy of New Prague, Billy of Cheyenne, Wyoming, grandchildren Sara (Alex) Sandey, Casey (Jordon), Sam, Jacob (Lexi), Rylee and Kaylee, five great-grandchildren, and her brothers Larry, Brad, Mike and Butch, and father-in-law Joseph Peerboom. She is preceded in death by her husband, Bill Wollin, her parents, Freddie and Marion Olson, brother, Dan Olson, sister Theresa Porter Sherman, and grandson, Brandon Wollin.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday, March 11, 2023, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Park Ballroom, New Prague. Visitation will take place from 11 a.m. to service time.
