U.S. Senator Amy Klobuchar’s “Minnesota Morning” event featured breakfast pastries from Lau’s Czech Bakery in New Prague last Thursday, Dec. 20.

Klobuchar has visited dozens of Minnesota communities in recent months and after tasting favorite local foods, she decided to showcase these Minnesota specialties at her weekly Thursday morning coffee gatherings in her Washington, D.C. office.

“Locally owned shops and restaurants like Lau’s Czech Bakery keep our economy strong,” Klobuchar said. “I was happy to bring a taste of New Prague to my guests here in Washington.”

Lau’s Czech Bakery has been serving New Prague since 1989. Owned by Doug and Patty Lau, this local favorite is known for their authentic Czech Kolacky, doughnuts, and traditional café items.

Klobuchar hosts “Minnesota Morning” every Thursday when the Senate is in session and invites all Minnesotans who are visiting the capital. Visitors can hear first-hand accounts of Klobuchar’s work in the Senate, mingle with fellow Minnesotans visiting Washington, meet the Senator’s staff, and take photographs with the Senator.
