Marian Alice (Vales) Jamnik, 99
Marian Alice (Vales) Jamnik, age 99 of Shoreview, passed away on Monday, February 20, 2023, at Johanna Shores Arden Hills. Marian was born in New Prague in 1923 to Joseph and Emma Vales, the youngest of four children.
She met Joseph Jamnik of Aurora in 1944 when he took a war time teaching job in New Prague. They married in New Prague in September 1944. Joe and Marian lived in several Minnesota communities, including New Prague, Forest Lake, Fairmont, and Freeborn before settling in Eden Valley to raise their twin children, Joann and Joel, who were born in 1956.
Joe taught Agriculture and Marian sewed and did quality control for Fingerhut, Animal Fair and Butwin. They were devoted parents as would be expected having twins after 12 years of marriage. When Joe died in 1991, she moved back to New Prague to live with her sister Evelyn Kraus, and upon Evelyn’s death she moved to Monticello to live with her daughter Joann and her family. She subsequently moved to Shoreview to live with Joel and his family.
She loved gardening, fishing, baking, the Gophers, and the state’s professional sports teams. She is survived by her twin children, Joann (Mark) Hoerchler of Isle, and Joel (Faith Loggers) of Shoreview, and their families: Jaclyn and Todd Eccless of Big Lake and their twin boys Alex and Austin, Joseph and Angelica Hoerchler of Monticello and their daughter Maya, Joshua Jamnik and Samantha Hofstede of Lino Lakes and their son Jordan, and Christina and Kyle Huggar of Minneapolis and their daughter Arabella.
Family services will be held later this spring. Memorials can be made to Johanna Shores Presbyterian Homes Arden Hills or the Minnesota Conservation Volunteer.
