Martin J. Shuster, 56

Martin J. Shuster passed away peacefully on December 19, 2024. He was 56 years old. In his last days, Marty was surrounded by loving family members and friends. Marty was born in New Prague, Minnesota, on March 20, 1968, to Ernest and Ellen Shuster. When Marty was 11 years old his father unexpectedly passed away. Marty missed him terribly his entire life. Marty was surrounded by men who shaped his future and helped him develop his interests in manufacturing, aviation, racing, cars, and motorcycles. Bill Miller, his step-father, and Joe Shuster, his uncle, were his guiding lights while navigating his teenage years.
At age 16, Marty obtained his pilot’s license. His interest in aviation was inspired by his step-father Bill Miller and his Uncle, Mike Miller. His first passenger after passing his flight test was his mom! Marty skillfully piloted high-performance single and twin-engine airplanes and enjoyed performing aerobatics in a Piper Cub.
Marty was an avid Georgia football fan (Go Dawgs)! Marty also played right wing for the University of Georgia hockey team. After graduating from college, Marty co-founded Miller-Leaman, Inc. in 1991, a filtration manufacturing company in Daytona Beach, Florida. Marty was a brilliant and talented entrepreneur and was passionate about his work. He was loved and respected by his coworkers and customers and was known for his innovative approach, quick sense of humor, his dedication to serving customers and “Can Do” attitude.
His love for aviation was only surpassed by his love of racing. He loved all things FAST, but sports cars were his passion. He competed in various racing events, including the Rolex 24 in Daytona Beach and Baja 1000 in Mexico. Marty inspired and supported young racers and was always willing to pitch in to fix a problem or lend his advice.
Marty is survived by his mother, Ellen Miller; his step-father, Bill Miller; his brother, Chris Shuster and his step-brothers / -sisters, Paul and Rachel Bruzek, Craig and Tracey Miller, Sarah and Chris Alderson, Jeff Bruzek, Tanya and Shawn Winn and Lisa and Rick Thole.
Marty was an incredibly compassionate, kind, and generous man with a zest for life. He touched many lives and encouraged people to challenge themselves. Marty was a Christian and we take solace in his early departure. We take great comfort that he has been reunited in Heaven with his beloved father Ernie and uncle Joe. God reached out his hand and Marty took it. Heaven has a new angel.
