Mary Angela (Thorne) Bisek, 79

Mary Angela (Thorne) Bisek

Mary Bisek passed away suddenly March, 25th, 2022.

She was born on September 25, 1942 in Fridley, MN to Lorraine (Teetzel) Gudim. She married Gene Bisek on June 8th, 1985. Mary was a beautiful lady and singer. She often picked up her guitar and sang to family and friends.  She sang mostly country music, but also enjoyed singing gospel. Her favorite gospel song was “The Old Rugged Cross”.

She retired from the Dairy Queen in New Prague, where she was the cake decorator for many years. Her children were lucky to have a mom that could whip up a scrumptious and very cool looking cake for any occasion. She also loved being a nanny for a couple of local families. Those kids gained another grandma, and she gained more family.

Mary was a “Red Hatter” for many years in New Prague and took her role as Queen very seriously. She even had a room in her home designated for all the red hat accessories she just HAD to have.

Mary and her beloved husband Gene were Eagles members in New Prague for many years. They enjoyed volunteering for the “love of community”. They both had hearts of a servant and were a pretty unforgettable team bringing laughter and joy wherever they volunteered.

One of her favorite past-times was to crochet. Her family and friends were lucky to receive colorful slippers, hot pads, or wash cloths for Christmas.  Besides that labor of love, her kids will always know how much she loved them because she told them every day.

“And if I go to prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you may also be where I am” (John 14:3).

Mary was preceded in death by her husband Gene, mom Lorraine,  sister Georgeann, brother Duane, son Victor, grandchild Cole, daughter-in-law Diane and many other loved ones. She is survived by her three brothers, Gary, Tim and Brad (Monica), her 5 children, Tony (Cheryl), David, Patrick (Lori), Kimberly and Desiree (Cindy). Her daughter-in-law Kathy, her grandchildren, Mattie (son- Logan), Andrew, Samantha (children- Lucas, Lynkin, Presley), and Ben, as well as her step-children - Kim (Jim), Tami (Bill) and Jim (Michelle), and their many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Mary was so looking forward to her 80th Birthday party in September of this year. We will honor that and have a celebration of her life on September 24th at the pavilion in Memorial Park, New Prague, Minnesota. We will be posting a reminder in The New Prague Times, Facebook and via phone calls near that date. Please join us for some music, food and precious stories.

In lieu of flowers for the family, please donate to places dear to Mary. The American Heart Association, American Diabetes Association, or any local pet shelter.
