Mayo trounces Trojans in 1AA boys soccer

The New Prague Trojan boys soccer team played a strong first half in its Section 1AA playoff opener against Rochester Mayo Tuesday, Oct. 9, but playing without their No. 1 goaltender and then losing a player to injury during the game took its toll, as the Spartans scored five goals in the second half to claim a 5-0 win.

"We know that Mayo has a great program and are always in contention for section champs," said Coach Gospel Kordah. "We played well in the first half, but without Kade Eggum in goal, and in the second half, we lost a key starter to injury. Mayo has a talented program and they played well."

Although his team lost, Kordah said the squad played hard until the final whistle.

"We had a good season and I am extremely proud of their commitment to continue to grow and strive for excellence on and off the field," he said.
