New Prague family, EP investor set plans in motion for The Broz
In the six-plus years they have called New Prague their home, Chris and Nichole Davis have developed a deep connection to the community and appreciation for all it offers residents. Now, they want to bring one of its most historic and under-utilized amenities back to life for the benefit of the entire community.
The couple has acquired the historic Broz Hotel, a purchase including the events center space on the east end of the property. They take ownership of the building Nov. 1. With the help of investor Rafik Moore of Eden Prairie, their initial plans are to continue hosting weddings and special events. They also want to reestablish on-site dining in some as-yet undetermined form and even anticipate the reestablishment of lodging at The Broz.
Moore and the couple share a desire to bring life back to the facility. It has sat largely under-utilized for years.
Among their first steps will be the installation of a lift to allow wheelchair-bound and mobility-limited guests access to the upper floor and construction for those facing limitations to access the rooms upstairs. There are, in time, decisions to be made on a chef and menu.
“This place needs somebody with vision,” Chris Davis said.
They have met people who worked in the facility years ago, people who share their passion to see The Broz reopened for the public to utilize and appreciate. They have no interest in making wholesale changes in the facility, which is approaching its 125th anniversary.
