NPHS presents ‘Our Town’ this weekend

New Prague High School for its spring play will perform the classic production “Our Town” by Thornton Wilder. Show times are Friday, March 25, and Saturday, March 26, at 7:30 p.m. at the high school auditorium, 221 12th St. NE.

“Our Town” is a timeless drama of life that takes place in the mythical village of Grover’s Corners, New Hampshire. It explores the relationship between two young Grover’s Corners neighbors, George Gibbs and Emily Webb, whose childhood friendship blossoms into romance. “Our Town,” which portrays the three phases of life, growing up, adulthood, and death, has become an American classic with universal appeal. “Our Town” appeared on Broadway in 1938 to wide acclaim, and won the Pulitzer Prize and has become Wilder’s most frequently performed play.

“Rehearsals have been going well, especially considering this is the first NPHS on-stage spring play since 2019,” said director Ben Thietje. The production in that year was “She Kills Monsters” a comedy about family and role-playing games. “The students are doing a great job with this sophisticated play.”
