Philip L. Murray, 74

Philip L. Murray, age 74, of Chaska, died suddenly on Friday, March 5, 2021 at 212 Medical Center in Chaska.  Phil was born on March 20, 1946 in New Prague to Paul M. and Eva L. (Peach) Murray.  He grew up on the family farm in Kilkenny, attending country school and Waterville Public School.  He farmed and raised cattle, goats, and other animals.  He met his bride, Darlene G. Owens, and they married on February 16, 1991 at Community Baptist Church in New Prague, where Phil was a long-standing, actively faithful member.  His faith was paramount in his life and saw him through the many challenges that his life presented, being the oldest person until his death with Von Willebrand’s Disease, a very specific type of hemophilia.  He lived life to the fullest and carried his challenges with grace and good-spiritedness.  Phil loved anything to do with trains!  He had a vast collection of HO model trains and loved to display them.  He was an avid member of the staff at the Gopher State Railroad Museum on the north side of New Prague and his love of children brought great joy as he gave them rides on the train.  Phil’s ready smile and affable personality will be greatly missed by his friends and the church family he had in Community Baptist Church.

Phil is survived by his loving wife, Darlene of Chaska; many cousins, especially Nathan (Mary) Ebert of Kilkenny and Kenneth (Barbara) Murray of Princeton.  He is preceded in death by his parents.

A memorial service of remembrance will be held Wednesday, March 10, 2021 at 10:00 AM at Community Baptist Church with Pastors John Stephens and Gerald Stephens officiating.  Visitation will take place from 9 – 10 at church.  Masks and social distancing are required.  Burial will occur at Gorman Lake Cemetery in Cordova, MN.  bruzekfuneralhome.com
