Trojan boys place 2nd at TCU Invitational

The New Prague boys cross country team placed second in the 28-team Tri City United Gerry Smith Invitational Thursday, Sept. 8 in Montgomery. Belle Plaine was the runaway winner with all five of their runners finishing in the top 20. The Tigers scored 48 points while the Trojans finished with 167 points. Stewartville placed third (189), Jordan fourth (208), and Mound-Westonka fifth (212).
New Prague had all seven of their varsity runners finish in the top one third of the 180 runner field. They were led by senior Riley Huseby who placed 13th in 17:54. Senior Liam Roufs placed 24th overall in 18:21.
The next five Trojan runners were within 15 places of each other. Freshman Zeke Russo placed 41st (18:48), senior Thomas Kulakevich placed 43rd (18:52), senior Ryan Schoen placed 46th (18:55), junior Alex Beck placed 49th (19:02), and senior Andrew Delost placed 56th (19:10).
In the junior varsity race, which New Prague won, junior Aiden Rosemeier won the event in 19:20 and senior Cole Herrmann placed second in 19:39.
