Trojan volleyball gets No. 3 seed

The New Prague Trojan volleyball team received the No. 3 seed for the Section 2AAA volleyball tournament, which begins Wednesday, Oct. 24. 

There are 11 teams in the section, and the top five seeds get first-round byes. After three play-in games on Wednesday, the top four teams will host quarterfinal games on Friday, Oct. 26. Semifinals are Tuesday, Oct. 30 and the championship game is Saturday, Nov. 3. All games will be played at the high seed except the championship game, which will be played at a neutral site. 

The top five seeds - teams getting a first round bye - are, in order, Minnetonka, Shakopee, New Prague, Prior Lake and Hutchinson. 

First round matches Wednesday, Oct. 24

No. 9 Mankato West at No. 8 Chaska

No. 11 Mankato East at No. 6 Chanhassen

No. 10 Eden Prairie at No. 7 Waconia. 

Quarterfinal matches on Friday, Oct. 26:

Chaska/West winner at No. 1 Minnetonka, 5:30 p.m.

No. 5 Hutchinson at No. 4 Prior Lake, 5:30 p.m.

Chanhassen/East winner at No. 3 New Prague, 7 p.m. 

Eden Prairie/Waconia winner at No. 2 Shakopee, 7 p.m.
