Trojans come up just short of state golf tournament
Despite their best efforts on a course most of them have played before, the NP girls’ and boys’ golf teams saw their season conclude last week at Ridges of Sand Creek outside Jordan in the section tournament Tuesday and Wednesday, May 27-28.
NP girls The Trojans made the second day of competition, finishing third overall behind section champion Minnetonka (591) and Orono (653).
Eden Prairie (704), the fourth team to make the second day of competition finished fourth. Chaska, Hutchinson, Waconia, Chanhassen, Shakopee, Worthington, Delano, Mankato East and Mankato West all finished behind NP.
The Trojans had a good day the first day of the competition, finishing third ahead of Eden Prairie, said coach Dan Holgate.
“We had some girls struggling off the tee and it cost us a lot of strokes on day 1,” he said. “We were able to stay out of the water hazards better on day 2 also.”
