Veterans Honor Guard to observe Veterans Day

In honor of Veterans Day on Thursday, Nov. 11, the New Prague Veterans Honor Guard has been invited to present the colors at several area events that will be observing the holiday. There will also be a program on Sunday, Nov. 14, and Tuesday, Nov. 16.

On Thursday, Nov. 11, New Prague School District 721 will have programs at its schools. New Prague High School is the only school that is allowing visitors to attend its program due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

• 9:45 – 10:15 a.m. – New Prague High School will have a traditional live, student/faculty observance as in “pre- Covid” years. All area veterans are invited and encouraged to attend as honored guests. The NPHS observance will be live-streamed to New Prague Middle School students and faculty.

• 10:40 – 11 a.m. – Falcon Ridge Elementary in New Prague will have no visitors or guests with the Honor Guard presenting colors outside the school’s main entrance.

• 11:30 – 11:50 a.m. – Raven Stream Elementary in New Prague will have no visitors or guests. The Honor Guard will parade through the school building and then exit.

• 1:30 – 1:50 p.m. – Eagle View Elementary in Elko New Market will have no visitors or guests. The Honor Guard will parade through school building and then exit.

• 2:15 – 3 p.m. Mala Strana Rehabilitation Center and Assisted Living in New Prague will have a program with masks required for guests and visitors. The Honor Guard will do a presentation of the colors, plus a patriotic program that will include introduction and recognition of veterans in residence at the facility.

On Sunday, Nov. 14, at 8:30 a.m. there will be a Veterans Mass at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in New Prague with all veterans welcome to participate.

On Tuesday, Nov. 16 at 1 p.m. St. Wenceslaus School in New Prague will have a Patriotic Rosary observance at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church.
