Brian Edward Ferch, 74

Brian Edward Ferch, age 74 of Waterville, died at his home in Waterville on Saturday, April 4, 2020.

Born in Waseca on April 21, 1945, Brian was the son of Edward and Viola (Nickels) Ferch. While in high school he worked for Walt Larson at Larson’s Café “swabbing the decks” and he delivered the Mankato newspaper. After he graduated from Waterville High School he started working for H&S Logging in Waterville for approximately 16 years, and he absolutely loved driving log truck. He then started his truck driving career in construction working for short stints with Crane Creek, Minneopa, & Big Gain. In 1984 he started working for Howard & Betty Timm at Timm’s Trucking in Morristown – a job he continued for 35 years. He loved his job and was very proud and honored to say he worked for Timm’s Trucking. Brian was the most humble man that his family has ever known. He had a very generous heart and gave to many charities, organizations, and his church. Most people never knew that, and that’s the way he wanted it. His humbleness, generous heart, sense of humor, and his loyalty to family and the love he shared are some of the many things that will be greatly missed about Brian.

Brian enjoyed hunting, fishing, ice fishing at Lake of the Woods with his brother Bradley and good friend Denny Zeise, yardwork and gardening, and taking drives around the area. He also loved watching classic TV, especially Westerns. His very favorites were Gunsmoke and the Andy Griffith Show, and he was a huge John Wayne fan. Beyond any of these things, though, the most important thing to Brian was spending time with family and doing things for them. He loved all the family vacations they took up North over the years as well as trips out west to the mountains. He was a member of Pheasants Forever and the Waterville Evangelical United Methodist Church.

Brian is survived by three siblings, Dennis Ferch and his husband David McShannock of Cortez, CO, Teresa Ferch of Waterville, and Bradley Ferch and his wife Heather and their daughter Ella “Little Sweetie” of Waterville; niece Krysten Callahan and her husband Daylan and their son and daughter Gabriel and Hannah of St. Paul; and cousins Steve “Butch” and Amy Kopackek of Pemberton; and many other cousins and their families. He will also be remembered by special family friends Denny and Sherry Zeise of Deerfield and many other friends and co-workers; and, of course, his buddy Chester the cat. He was preceded in death by all of his grandparents; his parents; one sister, Barbara Ferch, and many aunts; uncles; and cousins.

Funeral services will take place at a date and time to be later announced. Dennis Funeral & Cremation Services in Waseca is handling arrangements. dennisfuneralhomes.com
