Gerald "Jerry" Carl Mogenson, 82
Gerald “Jerry” Carl Mogenson, age 82 of Waterville, died on Friday, October 12, 2018 at the Mayo Clinic Health System in Mankato.
Born in Waseca County on September 30, 1936, Jerry was the son of Harry Carl and Leona Patricia Clara (Ribbe) Mogenson. As a boy he attended country school near Hope and then graduated from Owatonna High School in 1955. Jerry went on to serve his country in the United States Air Force until his honorable discharge in 1972. On September 18, 1971 he married Barbara Eliason in Northfield. They made their home together in Red Wing for a short time before moving to Waterville. Over the years Jerry owned and operated “Jerry’s 66” gas station and later went on to work at the LeSueur Foundry. He was a member of the VFW and he enjoyed hunting, fishing, following the Minnesota Vikings, taking trips up north, and spending time with his family.
Jerry is survived by his wife, Barb of Waterville; one brother, Vernon (Susan) Mogenson of Hastings; four children, Jeffrey (Sonya) Mogenson of North Little Rock, AR, Melissa (Ricky) Walters of Malvern, AR, Kimberly Johnson of St. Peter and her partner Wayne Gottschalk, and Shelly Mogenson of Lawrenceburg, KY; thirteen grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; and two sons, Chuck Boyles and Jody Boyles.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, October 17, 2018 at Dennis Funeral & Cremation Services in Waterville. Visitation will be held from 12 p.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Sakatah Cemetery in Waterville. dennisfuneralhomes.com
