He also enjoyed his monthly poker games with his friends of many years, most of which were held at Ed Atherton’s hide-a-way overlooking Lake Francis.
While teaching in Pine Island, he met and married Hilda “Lou” Koehler on May 30, 1964 in a little country church near Madison Lake, Minnesota.
He is survived by his wife, Lou; one son, Brian and his wife Pamela of Elysian; one daughter, Christina Dumitrache of Mankato; one sister, Yvonne and her husband Warren Blomquist of Elysian; and five grandchildren, Payton, Ethan, Brady and Jake Nutter and Trenton Dumitrache.
