Taylor named WEM football MVP

WEM senior Talen Taylor was named the WEM football Most Valuable Player during the end-of-the-season awards recognition Tuesday, Nov. 25.

Taylor, a three-time All-District Player and the 2025 District Player of the Year, had a fantastic all-around season for the team which advanced to State.

On defense he finished with a team-high six interceptions, scored a defensive touchdown, had a fumble recovery, numerous pass break-ups, and 10.5 tackles.

On offense he completed 36-of-76 for 697 yards, 11 touchdowns, and only three interceptions. He rushed the ball 102 times for 869 yards (8.5/carry) and scored 13 rushing touchdowns.

Junior Gavin Atherton was the Buccaneer Offensive Player of the Year for the second time. He gained 954 yards on 140 carries (6.8/ carry) and scored 16 rushing touchdowns. In two years he has rushed for 2,237 yards on 316 carries and has a total of 41 touchdowns rushing and receiving.

Senior Jacob Androli was named the Buccaneer Defensive Player of the Year for the second time. He led the team with 65.5 total tackles, had six tackles for loss, and recovered a fumble.

Senior Kaden James was named the Buccaneer Lineman of the Year. He helped the Bucs gain 3,446 yards rushing (7.2/carry) and 4,454 total yards as the team’s center.

Other awards included: Scout Player of the Year went to junior Mason Denis for the second straight season.

Special Teams Player of the Year went to junior Ethan Einertson.

ETP (Embrace The Process) Award winners were seniors Brendan Snesrud and Brady Murphy.
