Generations Theatre Company will be performing its second show this summer with this weekend’s performance of “The All Night Strut - American Songbook Standards,” Friday, July 18, through Sunday, July 20, at New Prague High School, 221 12th St. NE. Times are 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday and a 2 p.m. matinee Sunday.
“The All Night Strut” is a jukebox musical featuring songs audiences will recognize: "Chattanooga Choo Choo," "In the Mood," "Ain't Misbehavin'," and "It Don't Mean a Thing (If it Ain't Got That Swing)" to name just a few, said Elise Lundeen, director of the show, adding Katherine Gorr is musical director and choreographer of the production.
The show includes 15 singers and dancers, ranging in age from 15 on up, Lundeen said. “The story follows a couple finally selling their nightclub and reliving their memories and music over the years.”
Lundeen noted among the cast are two families with three generations involved with the production. One is a dad, son and granddaughter, as Chuck Johnson performs with his son, Cory Johnson, and Cory’s daughter, Lucy Johnson. There is also a family with mom, daughter and two grandsons, as Sandy Gallagher provides music, her daughter Katherine Gorr is the musical director and her sons Gallagher and Gardner Gorr are involved in the play. Gallagher Gorr is on stage and his brother Gardner is the sound technician.
The cast also includes Rowan Anderson, Annie Birkholz, Michelle Germscheid. Abby Giles, Lisa Hathaway, Anna Hutton, Kristine Maloy, Leslie Otero, Matt Peyer-Stensrud, Rose Schroeder and Addy Shurts.
