Le Sueur County Fair opens Thursday

The 2025 Le Sueur County Fair begins Thursday, August 14 at the fairgrounds in Le Center and runs through Sunday, August 18.

Events are scheduled through the weekend at one of the state’s oldest county fairs.

The fair opens Thursday, Aug. 14, 9 a.m., with a 4-H horse show and a draft horse halter show at 11 a.m. There will be a 4-H rabbit show at 1 p.m., the carnival opening at 3 p.m., a beef show at 5 p.m., free sweet corn feed at the commercial building, Doug Traxler and the Hired Hands performing from 6 to 9 p.m., a draft horse hitch show in the arena at 6 p.m. and the amateur talent show at 7 p.m. with winners advancing to the state fair. Color contest pictures are also due to the fairboard office by 8 p.m.

Friday’s list of activities includes a dairy goat show at 8 a.m. in the show arena, a 4-H meat goat show at 10 a.m., a reptile show at 12:30 p.m. in the pavilion, a 4-H poultry show at 13:30 p.m., axe throwing beginning at 3 p.m., FFA tractor driving contest and 4-H pet show, both starting at 4 p.m., a 4-H lamb lead and sheep show, Over 60 Band performing from 4 to 5 p.m., and Somher and Dale performing from 4 to 7 p.m. The 4-H fashion revue is set for 6 p.m. and and a demolition derby in the grandstand at 7 p.m.. The band Open Highway will perform from 9 p.m. to midnight.

Saturday’s activities include a horse show at 8 a.m., a swine show at 8 a.m. and a dairy show at 9:30 a.m. A petting zoo and pony rides will be open from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. live music by Concertina Band from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., a micro mini tractor pull at noon, the 4-H Ag Olympics at 1 p.m., and a kids pedal-pull at 2 p.m. (registration at 1:30 p.m.) in the pavilion. Bingo is scheduled for 3 p.m. Music featured includes Little Chicago from 3 to 6 p.m., St. Paul Czech and Slovak Folk Dancers at 5 p.m., and Smokescreen from 9 p.m. until midnight. The 4-H premier showmanship program starts at 4:30 p.m. A truck and tractor pull is slated for 5 p.m. in the grandstand.

The schedule Sunday, Aug. 17, includes a pancake breakfast from 8 a.m. to noon, a classic car show beginning at 10 a.m., Bake & Take baking contest from 10 a.m. to 1:45 p.m., a, live music by Bob Pexa at noon, the carnival opening at noon and the presentation of the senior citizen and century farm/farm family of the year at 1 p.m. at the pavilion. A bean bag tournament also starts at 1 p.m. as do the ranch rodeo, and kid’s pedal drag race. The 4-H ribbon auction starts at 2 p.m.
