Glendon Peter Flicek, 94, of Montgomery, died on Wednesday, Aug. 15, 2018, at Mala Strana Health Care in New Prague. 
 

Garry LeRoy Quance, 78, of Montgomery, died on Sunday, Aug. 12, 2018, at his home. Visitation will be held on Sunday, Aug. 19, 2018, from 3 to 6 p.m. at Schoenbauer Funeral Home in Montgomery. Memorial service will follow at 6 p.m. also at the funeral home.
 
Garry was born on September 16, 1939, in Staples, MN to Glen and Edith (Klos) Quance. Garry was a Staples High School graduate of the Class of 1957. 
 

Formerly of New London, Marilyn Joyce (Retzlaff) Sawall age 80, died on Thursday, July 26, 2018, in Minnesota. 
 
She was born on December 25, 1937, in Appleton. In 1977, Marilyn moved to Minnesota with her husband and children. Marilyn had a deep love for Christ Jesus and was continually searching for ways to grow her faith.  She has always had a special place in her heart for children and loved spending time with them. 
 
She enjoyed listening to music, singing, and dancing. She also loved to travel.
 

James Edward Jabas, age 72, of Montgomery, died on Friday, July 20, 2018 at his home in Montgomery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 25, 2018 from 4pm-8pm at Schoenbauer Funeral Home in Montgomery. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, July 26, 2018 at 10:30am at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church with visitation 1 hour prior at church. Father George Grafsky and Father Victor Valencia will be officiating. Burial will be held in St. Catherine’s of Spring Lake 4500 220th St. E. Prior Lake. Military honors will be provided by the Montgomery area Veterans Honor Guard.

Albert F. Malecha, age 96, of Montgomery, died on Saturday, July 14, 2018 at Traditions of Montgomery. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 17, 2018 from 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Montgomery. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, July 17, 2018 at 11:30 a.m. at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church with KC Rosary fifteen minutes prior to visitation at the Church. Father George Grafsky will be officiating. Burial will be held at St. Wenceslaus Cemetery in New Prague following mass.

Mary Bridget Krenik, 91, of Le Center, died Wednesday, July 4, 2018, at Central Health Care Center in Le Center.  Visitation was held at the Le Center Funeral Home on Friday, July 6 from 4 to 8 p.m. and one hour prior to the Mass at church on Saturday. Mass of Christian Burial was held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Le Center on Saturday, July 7, 2018, at 10 a.m. with Fr. Chris Shofner presiding.  Burial was held at Calvary Cemetery in Le Center.

LuAnn Dvorak, 66, of Montgomery, died on Monday, July 2, 2018, at her home in Montgomery. Visitation will be on Monday, July 9 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Schoenbauer Funeral Home in Montgomery. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Tuesday, July 10 at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Montgomery with visitation one hour prior at the church. Father Victor Valencia will officiate. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery in Montgomery.
 
LuAnn was born on April 26, 1952, in New Prague to Louis and Lillian (Hughes) Filipek.
 

Joseph Leo Skluzacek, age 90, of Lonsdale, MN passed away peacefully on June 24, 2018 at the Mala Strana Care Health Center in New Prague. Joe served his country in the US Army and was a life long farmer in the Lonsdale area. Joe was born on May 24, 1928 in Wheatland Township to Joseph J. and Anna (Schoenbauer) Skluzacek. He is preceded in death by his parents; sisters, and brothers-in-law, Helen (George) Voracek, Clare (Syl) Nickolay, Mary (Leo) Scheffler, Gene Connelly and brother, Gilbert Skluzacek.

Joseph Schiprett, Jr, 50, of Lonsdale, passed away on June 21, 2018.  He grew up in Lonsdale, attended Montgomery-Lonsdale High School and continued his education at Dakota County Technical College for Diesel Mechanics.  He was employed by Scott County as a Mechanic and later joined the Highway Department.  He worked there until his health forced him to retire.

Mary Jean “MJ” Richter died peacefully surrounded by family in St. Peter, MN on Monday, June 18, 2018, at the age of 83.
 

Kristen J. Huhner, age 58, of New Prague, died peacefully, surrounded by her family on Saturday, June 9, 2018.  Kris was born on January 28, 1960 in New Prague to Raymond H. and Doris C. (Gehlen) Harpel.  She grew up in Montgomery, attended Holy Redeemer Catholic School, graduated from Montgomery-Lonsdale High School, and attained a degree from Winona State College with a double major in social work and Spanish.  She began her career as a social worker while living in Georgia after her marriage to Philip Simon on April 15, 1983.

Yvonne Trcka, 77, of Montgomery, died at Mala Strana Health Care in New Prague on Friday, May 25, 2018, from a stroke.
 
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 30, 2018, at Schoenbauer Funeral Home in Montgomery from 4 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 31, 2018, at 10:30 a.m. with visitation from 9:30 a.m. to time of service. Chaplin, Deb Mechley will be officiating. Interment will be at St. John Catholic Cemetery in Montgomery.
 

Rita H. Schipreth, 84, of Le Center, died on May, 17, 2018, at Mayo Clinic Health System, New Prague. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, May 21 at 10 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Le Center with visitation two hours prior at the church. Father Chris Shofner will be officiating.  Interment will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Belle Plaine.
 
Rita was born on March 21, 1934, in Cleveland to Frank and Mary (Lucy) Schipreth. Rita went to County School and graduated from Belle Plaine High School in 1954. She worked in restaurants and factories.
 

Janet Edith Schoenbauer Retka, 84, of St. Thomas, MN died peacefully Saturday, May 12, 2018. Jan suffered from Alzheimer’s Disease and lived the last four years of her life at Traditions in Montgomery. 
 
Jan’s Celebration of Life will be held Wednesday, May 16, 11 a.m. at St. Thomas Catholic Church with Father Roger Hessian presiding. The visitation will be at Schoenbauer Funeral Home, 200 Third St SE, Montgomery on Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. and one hour before the funeral Mass at St. Thomas.
 

Stanley Ben Barta, 88, of Montgomery, passed away at The Villages of Lonsdale on Thursday, May 3, 2018, surrounded by his family. 

 

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 12, at Most Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Montgomery, with visitation one hour prior at Schoenbauer Funeral Home in Montgomery. 

 

Isla Mikkelson Bortnem was born in Colman, SD on Feb. 26, 1926, and she peacefully passed away on May 2 at the Belle Plaine Lutheran Home. A brief service celebrating Isla’s life will be held at 2 p.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Montgomery, MN on Monday, May 7.
 
Floyd and Isla Bortnem were married for 55 years. Floyd passed away in 2001. Isla was a woman who faced life head on. She attended SDSU with the intention of entering the business world but was sidetracked by Floyd to be a farmer’s wife.
