Roman W. Kalina, age 89 of Lonsdale, died peacefully on Thursday April 12, 2018 at Mala Strana Rehabilitation Center surrounded by family. Roman was born November 9, 1928 on a farm in Wheatland Township to Emanuel and Mary (Skluzacek) Kalina. He attended Immaculate Conception School in Lonsdale, Farm School in the Twin Cities and after serving two years in the army he went to GI School.
Robert Leroy Jones, 81, died peacefully at home on April 3, 2018.
Robert was born on August 7, 1936 to Raymond and Leona Jones in Bangor, Wisconsin. Robert served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and then worked for 35 years in the airline industry.
Robert married Carol Ann Weber on June 20, 1970 in Cudahy, Wisconsin. They later moved to Waunakee, Wisconsin where they raised their two children. Robert and Carol moved to New Prague, Minnesota in 2005 to be close to family.
James E. Malinski, age 91, of New Prague, died peacefully on Friday, April 6, 2018, at Mala Strana Rehabilitation Center. Jim was born on October 9, 1926 in Lexington Township, Le Sueur County to Albert and Mary (O’Connell) Malinski. He grew up in the Lexington area, attending Le Sueur County District School and Cleveland High School. He was drafted into the US Army while a senior in high school and served from 1945-46. Dixie Claire Settergren, 87, of New Prague, died peacefully Easter Sunday, April 1, 2018 at the University of Minnesota Medical Center in Minneapolis.
Dixie was born November 23, 1930 to James and Edrie (Lindquist) Dougherty. She graduated from Minneapolis West High School. Growing up, she enjoyed time with her grandparents in Marine on Saint Croix and time with cousins on Lake Minnetonka. She worked as a receptionist at KSTP and was a wedding planner at Dayton's.
Luverne “Liz” E. Musil, age 86 of New Prague, died Tuesday, April 3, 2018 at the Mala Strana Health Care Facility in New Prague. Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 12 at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in New Prague. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, April 11 at the Bruzek Funeral Home, and one hour prior to Mass at the church on Thursday. Interment will be in the St. Wenceslaus Cemetery in New Prague. Luncheon to follow at the KC Hall in New Prague.

The family of Michael Joseph LaPierre, age 67, of New Prague are deeply saddened to report that Mike passed away on March 30, 2018. Preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Alice LaPierre; brothers Louis and Philip; nephews Jean Louis and Bradley, and sister-in-law Edna. Eugene “Gene” Joseph Pavek, age 84 of Eagan, MN, died peacefully on Easter Sunday, April 1, 2018 at his home in Port Charlotte, FL. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 AM on Tuesday, April 10 at the Church of St. Patrick’s in Jordan, MN with a lunch planned for afterward. Visitation will be one hour prior to service time at the church. Interment will be in Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, April 10.
Delores J. Hoffman, age 95 of Belle Plaine formerly of New Prague, died Saturday, March 31, 2018 at the Belle Plaine Lutheran Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. on Friday, April 6 at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in New Prague. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, April 5 at the Bruzek Funeral Home in New Prague and will continue Friday morning from 8 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in St. Benedict Cemetery in Helena Twp., Scott Co.
David A. Wick, age 60 of New Prague, died suddenly at his home on Thursday, March 29, 2018. Memorial services will be on Wednesday, April 4, 2018, 12:00 p.m. at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in New Prague, MN. Visitation will be at the church on Wednesday morning from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. Pastor Alicia Hilding will officiate the services. Following the services at church, the family will host a time of fellowship and lunch in the church social hall.
Gary L. Long, age 64, of New Prague, died at his home on Tuesday, March 27, 2018 after a recent diagnosis of terminal lung cancer. Gary was born on December 24, 1953, in Rice County, Faribault, Minnesota, to Gerald H. and Marion (Gatzke) Long. He was raised in Milaca, Minnesota, where he attended high school and entered the U.S. Army following his junior year. He served his country from 1972 to 1974. He completed his GED in Germany and continued his education at various trade schools for welding, mechanical, and diesel engine.
Marie Ludmilla Kajer, 92, left this life on Christmas morning, December 25, 2017. Her daughters, Kim (Kajer) Bergstedt and Jacinta (Cindy) Timmons Carlson were at her side. In addition to her daughter, Kim, she is survived by Kim's husband, David A. Bergstedt, and their children, Brittany Marie, Erik Donald and Elisabeth Eve. In addition to her daughter Cindy, she is survived by Cindy's husband, Harold W. Carlson, and Harry's daughters Karin Carlson Spradlin and her children Emmet and Laura; Sarah Lynn Carlson; and Maria Lach Carlson and her children Lucia, Ellen and Flynn.
Irene A. Unger, age 85, of New Prague, died peacefully, surrounded by her family on Sunday, December 17, 2017, at her home.
